UWW goes 1-1 in Kalamazoo, MI
After last weekend's big win over the University of Chicago, the UWW Men's tennis team hit a bump in the road in Michigan when they lost to Kalamzoo College a team that has a history of being one of the top programs in D-3 tennis.  I felt the team had a good week of practice and prepared well for the match, but we came out a little flat at #1 and #2 doubles (and Kzoo's #1 and #2 teams played great). Our #3 doubles team continued on a tear and are now on a 5 match winning streak against some very strong competition.  We were not able to come back at #1 or #2, so we fell behind 1-2 in doubles and this put us in an unfamiliar position going into singles.

Going into singles I honestly felt that our leaders felt confident that we'd get the job done in singles, but the Hornets were too consistent for us.  They were on fire and simply did not miss.  Eventually they wore down our guys one by one and swept the sinlges.  It was a dissapointing loss, but not due to lack of effort.  Our guys stayed and fought and came up with some things they now know they need to work on .  Even after the loss the team rebounded focused in well on our next opponents.

Against Monmouth, we juggled the lineup a little bit, and came out with an 8-1 win. Check out The Bickett Zone for photos and Daniel's impressions.  You can go to Men's Tennis Site for all individual scores from both matches.

Next up for the Warhawks?  Both the men and the women have an alumni event this weekend at Four Lakes Athletic Club all afternoon on Satudary.  I'm thrilled to be able to start practices with the women's team this weekend.  The following weekend the men take on Carthage and Lake Forest, and the women take on UW-Milwaukee.
