Week 4 Recap: 2014 ITA Summer Circuit, presented by the USTA
SKILLMAN, NJ (July 23) - The 2014 ITA Summer Circuit, presented by the USTA, was in full steam last weekend with play at nine sites. Just one weekend of play remains before the ITA/USTA National Summer Championships take place on August 9-12 in Bloomington, Indiana.
Highlights from last weekend's action include:
Three-peat for Halpern
Eric Halpern of Emory University, who won the men's singles event at Rutgers, has now won an ITA Summer Circuit tournament in three consecutive years: Middlebury in 2012, Dartmouth in 2013, and now Rutgers in 2014 with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over John Wu. Halpern, who will be a senior at Emory next year, has only lost once in singles on the ITA Summer Circuit, in Dartmouth in 2012.

Nelle Youel won her second straight ITA Summer Circuit title a week after winning at Western Michigan. Youel, who will be a senior this year at Northern Illinois, captured the title at Notre Dame with a tough 1-6, 6-4, 10-8 victory over Alexandria Chatt, who will be a freshman this fall at Northwestern.
Better the second time around
Hadley Berg, runner-up last week at UC Davis, scored a 6-0, 6-3 win over Iveta Masarova to take the title at the University of Pacific. Berg is set to begin her collegiate tennis career this fall at the University of South Carolina, while Masarova will be a senior at University of the Pacific.
