SKILLMAN, NJ (March 27) - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men bested previously top-ranked Washington University-St. Louis 8-1, to join the Johns Hopkins women as the No. 1 teams in the ITA Division III National Team Rankings.

 

The Stags are 15-1 this season, with their only loss coming against Division I UCLA, who has been ranked as high as No. 2 this season. In addition to defeating the Bears, the Stags also topped No. 4 Amherst, 6-3. CMS was the only team in the Top 10 to improve its ranking, while Pomona-Pitzer jumped three spots to No. 13 after beating No. 28 Chicago and No. 12 Whitman, while also playing tight matches against No. 2 Williams and No. 11 Carnegie Mellon.

 

On the women's side, Johns Hopkins beat No. 8 Carnegie Mellon for the second time this season to remain undefeated and hold its spot at the top of the rankings. The Pomona-Pitzer women bettered the Sagehens men, gaining six spots to earn its No. 6 ranking. The Sagehens posted three Top 20 wins over the weekend, including an 8-1 win over No. 6 Middlebury to earn back their spot in the Top 10.

Follow the Leader: For the women, Johns Hopkins is followed by (in order): Williams, Emory, Amherst, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, Pomona-Pitzer, Bowdoin, Middlebury, Carnegie Mellon and Wash U.-St. Louis. 
On the men's side, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps is followed by Wash U.-St. Louis, Williams, Amherst, Johns Hopkins, Trinity (TX), Emory, Case Western Reserve, Kenyon and Middlebury.

 

Double-Dip: This week, seven schools have both their men's and women's programs ranked inside the Top 10.

Top 30 Newcomers: The Brandeis men's team made its first appearance in the ITA Division III Men's National Team Rankings at No. 24, while Colby earned the No. 25 spot thanks to an eight-match winning streak. No new women's teams moved into the Top 30.
