2013 ITA Summer Circuit Results – Week Three
SKILLMAN, NJ (July 17) – The 2013 ITA Summer Circuit, presented by the USTA, was in full swing this past week. The circuit is capped off with the USTA/ITA National Summer Championships hosted by Indiana University, which is an open event with registration available here.
Here are some stories to take note of:
Mackenzie McDonald looks ready for UCLA
The Piedmont, CA, native captured singles and doubles titles at the University of the Pacific site in northern California, marking his second straight sweep of a Summer Circuit event. He also swept all competition at Saint Mary’s last week.

The blue-chip recruit will be attending UCLA in the fall.
Women’s doubles titles do not come easy
The women’s doubles final at Western Michigan finished with a 9-7 result. Two of this week’s events ended in an 8-4 triumph. Mary Anne McFarlane and Emily Zabor won 8-4 at Middle Tennessee, as did Lorraine Guillermo and Lindsay Kostas at La Verne - Upland.
Guillermo also captured the singles title at her site, after finishing as the runner-up in her first event of the summer at Laguna Niguel.
Close but no cigar…
Four different players made the finals in both singles and doubles of their respective event, but came up short in the championship round.
Nadin Indre was able to capture a singles set in the final at Western Michigan, but fell in a deciding supertiebreaker. Emma Alderman played a tiebreaker for the women’s doubles crown at Dartmouth, but was unable to emerge victorious.

Since its inception in 1993, nearly 30,000 men and women have competed in the ITA Summer Circuit, presented by the USTA. Providing college and junior athletes (along with alumni) the opportunity to compete in organized events year round, the Circuit remains open to anyone as long as he/she is a current ITA member. There are nine regional circuits that span across the United States, which include thirty-five different tournaments. These open tournaments culminate with the USTA/ITA National Summer Championships at Indiana University, Bloomington, IN, on August 10-13. Everyone is eligible to enter the National Summer Championships.
