Jenkins and Embree Claim No. 1 Ranking in Season-End ITA College Tennis Rankings

Duke and USC clinch No. 1 spot in doubles

ITA Division I Men's Rankings | ITA Division I Women's Rankings

SKILLMAN, NJ (June 5) -- With the 2012-13 season officially over, Virginia’s Jarmere Jenkins and Florida’s Lauren Embree checked-in as the nation’s top singles players in the final ITA College Tennis Rankings.  Jenkins finished the year in impressive fashion by winning the NCAA Men’s Doubles Championship with freshman standout Mac Styslinger as well as a runner-up finish in the NCAA Men’s Singles Championship.  Jenkins also helped guide the Cavaliers to their first national team title in program history.  In addition to winning the ITA/Riviera Women’s All-American Championships singles crown, Embree guided the Florida Gators to a semifinal appearance in the NCAA Women’s Championship before falling to eventual champions, Stanford.  Both Embree and Jenkins were honored earlier this year as they were named ITA Senior Players of the Year.

In doubles, Duke’s tandem of Henrique Cunha and Raphael Hemmeler claimed the top overall ranking.  The pair from Duke have quite the resume this season, winning the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships doubles title, the USTA/ITA Carolina Regional Championship, and reached the semifinals of the NCAA Men’s Doubles Championship.  On the women’s side, it is no surprise to see USC’s Kaitlyn Christian and Sabrina Santamaria atop the rankings.  The Trojans have had as dominant a season as a doubles team can have, completing the single season triple crown by winning titles at the ITA/Riviera All-American Women’s Championships, USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships, and NCAA Women’s Doubles Championship.
