The College of New Jersey Moves into Top 30 of the ITA Men's Team Rankings

SKILLMAN, NJ (April 11) -- The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men and Amherst women remained atop the latest ITA Division III College Tennnis Team Rankings. The Stags are now 18-3 on the season, with all of their loses coming outside of NCAA DIII play. CMS has six wins over teams currently in the Top 10, including defeats of each team ranked in the Top Five. Amherst also owns a perfect record against NCAA DIII competititon at 10-0, with their lone loss coming on the road against Lynn, which is ranked No. 8 in the ITA Division II Women's Team Rankings. The Jeffs have recorded three consectuive sweeps, all of which came against ranked foes (No.19 Skidmore, No. 21 Trinity (CT), and No. 28 Bates).
 
Follow the Leader: For the men, following CMS is (in order): Kenyon, Emory, Cal Lutheran, Williams, Bowdoin, Trinity (TX), Johns Hopkins, Middlebury, and UC Santa Cruz.  For the women, following Amherst is CMS, Emory, Middlebury, Williams, Johns Hopkins, Chicago, Bowdoin, Redlands, and Wash U-St. Louis.
 
Conference Count: Men's Top 30: NESCAC, SCIAC and UAA - 5; Centennial - 2; Twelve other conferences placed one team in the Top 30 this week. Women's Top 30: NESCAC - 7; UAA - 6; SCIAC - 4; Liberty League, and NCAC - 2; Nine other conferences have one team in the Top 30.
 
Top 30 Caliber: While there were no new additions to the Top 30 on the women's side this week, The College of New Jersey men did slip into the Top 30 for the first time this season. The Lions boast a perfect 12-0 record, including a 5-4 victory over previously-ranked Trinity (CT) that helped propel them into the national rankings.
 
Coming Up Next: The ITA Division III Rankings will be published again on Thursday, May 2nd as regional team, singles and doubles as well as national team rankings will be announced.
