(1) North Carolina, (2) Memphis, (3) VCU, (4) Denver
North Carolina, the 2013 ITA Division I Women's National Team Indoor champions, came in at No. 3 in the ITA Division I Women's Team Rankings. The Tar Heels have added two talented freshmen to their roster, including No. 2 ranked Jamie Loeb, who started her collegiate career with wins at both the Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships and 2013 USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships in the fall to boast a 19-1 singles record. Fellow Tar Heel Hayley Carter is No. 5 in the ITA Singles Rankings. The Tar Heels also have two doubles teams ranked in the top 15, with No. 10 Whitney Kay and Caroline Price and No. 12 Loeb and Carter, who won the doubles title at the USTA/ITA Carolina Regional Championships.
The Tar Heels will be heavily favored to return to the DI Indoor Championship, though it will host all ranked teams, as Memphis is No. 31, VCU is No. 39 and Denver is No. 62. However, the Tar Heels will only have to face one other top 100 singles ranked player, VCU’s Yukako Noi who is ranked #81 and was 8-4 during the fall season. In doubles, Memphis does have a top 60 team in Stefanie Mikesz and Caroline Wenger, at #53. Former No. 51 ranked Mikesz is returning from an ankle injury.
