No. 2 UCLA starts the 2013-14 team campaign highlighted by the play of No. 1 Clay Thompson, whose 18-1 fall season shot him to the top of the ITA Singles Rankings. Teammates Marcos Giron (No. 11), Mackenzie McDonald (No. 62), Karue Sell (No. 64) and Gage Brymer (No. 120) also earned national singles rankings, while Giron and McDonald made the doubles final at the Saint Francis Health System ITA Men’s All-American Championships to garner the No. 10 ITA Doubles Ranking.
Texas Tech (No. 53) is the No. 2 seed in Los Angeles, and is led by Hugo Dojas, who is No. 65 in singles and pairs with freshman Maxime Hinnisdaels to form the No. 33 doubles team. No. 60 Nebraska and No. 66 Wisconsin round out the group, with both teams having extremely successful falls on the doubles court.
