The Golden Bears bring back five returning players in their singles lineup, in addition to the fifth-ranked doubles team of Nick Andrews and Christoffer Konigsfeldt. The top Bears duo won the ITA All-American consolation title and reached the semifinals at the USTA/ITA National Indoors.
Minnesota is led by freshman Leandro Toledo and a pair of players who garnered major international experience over the summer. Phillip Arndt and Michael Sicora of the Golden Gophers represented the United States at the 2011 World University Games in Shenzhen, China.
LSU’s Olivier Borsos also competed in Shenzhen for his native Hungary. He held a match point on eventual bronze medalist Alexander Bury. Nikola Bubnic and Thibaut Visy of San Diego are the reigning USTA/ITA Southwest Regional doubles champions.
