Gustavus Adolphus Set to Host 2012 ITA Division III Men’s Team Indoor Championship
National event returns to St. Peter, Minn., for the ninth time
SAINT PETER, Minn. – Six of the top 10 teams in the Campbell/ITA Division III Team Rankings will take part in the 2012 ITA Division III Men’s Team Indoor Championship, hosted by Gustavus Adolphus College at the Swanson Tennis Center in St. Peter, Minn., Feb. 24-26. The defending champion Emory Eagles enter the event as the top seed, looking for its record fifth ITA Division III Men’s Team Indoor title.
Friday’s action will feature two sessions of matches, one at 11:30 am (CT) and the other at 5:00 pm (CT). In the day’s first session, second seed Washington University will face seven seed Chicago, while three seed UC Santa Cruz will take on six seed Trinity. In the second session, first-seeded Emory will be up against host team and eight seed Gustavus Adolphus, and four seed Kenyon will be in action against five seed Pomona-Pitzer.
The winners of Friday’s matches advance to the semifinals, which are slated for Saturday at 2:00 pm (CT). The championship match is scheduled for Sunday at 9:00 am (CT).
The top three singles players in the Campbell/ITA College Tennis Rankings will all be in action this weekend, with No. 1 Dillon Pottish and No. 2 Chris Goodwin representing Emory, and No. 3 Adam Putterman representing Washington University. In all, 14 players in the Campbell/ITA top 50 will take part in the 2012 ITA Division III Men’s Team Indoor Championships. There will also be five doubles duos with a Campbell/ITA national ranking to take the courts of the Swanson Tennis Center this weekend, including No. 5 Max Frey and Erick DelaFuente of Trinity.
