2009 TEAM HIGHLIGHTS: Achieved highest ranking (#16) since 1997… U-M closed out the regular season by winning 10 of its final 11 matches, with its only setback coming at home to No. 1-ranked Northwestern (6-1) on March 29.

PLAYER/COACH HIGHLIGHTS: Bernstein was a four-time ITA All-American in both singles and doubles during her illustrious collegiate career at the University of Miami (Fla.) from 1984-88…She was named the NCAA Senior Player of the Year in 1988… As a sophomore in 1985-86, Bernstein (then Reis) won both the ITA National Indoor and NCAA doubles titles en route to finishing the year with an undefeated record of 29-0… Chisako Sugiyama, who is ranked 67th nationally, became the all-time winningest singles player in the 36-year history of the U-M women's tennis program with a record of 104-40 and ranks second all-time in winning percentage (.722).
