BEST NCAA FINISH: In 1999 the Hokies advanced to the “Sweet Sixteen” for the only time in the program’s history losing to eventual runner-up UCLA.

2009 TEAM HIGHLIGHTS: Posted a 14-7 record with a 9-7 record vs. ranked opponents … Five of the seven losses were to teams ranked No. 25 or higher including two vs. No. 1 (Ohio State and Virginia). The team was ranked as high as No. 21 at one point in the season.

PLAYER/COACH HIGHLIGHTS: Team features two nationally-ranked players in Yoann Re (57) and Nicolas Delgado de Robles (92). Re, who suffered a broken collar bone on Mar. 29 at Miami, was 12-2 in dual matches including victories over two top ten players. Re may return for the NCAA tournament. Luka Somen was named the ACC Freshman of the Year after leading the team with 24 singles victories. He was joined on the all-conference team by Yoann Re.
