This unique and prestigious award was created by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association to honor past participants in the world of collegiate tennis, who have achieved excellence in a chosen career (outside the world of professional tennis) and, in doing so, have made a special contribution to society.
Applicant must have graduated from a four-year American college and lettered a minimum of one year on the school's varsity tennis team.
The ITA will select at least three finalists from all of the applications received from the candidates. A dossier pertaining to these candidates will be submitted to the ITA Achievement Award Selection Panel. The Panelists will select at least one recipient each year as the ITA Achievement Award winner.
Recognition and Award Ceremony
The winner will be honored by the ITA at a special award ceremony hosted by the International Tennis Hall of Fame (exact location, date and time to be determined each spring). The ITA Achievement Award winner will receive a specially engraved gift, a framed certificate (presented personally by Stan Smith) and tickets to the US Open. The ITA will cover the travel & lodging expenses for the winner & one guest. The winner shall also be featured on our ITA web site, and also in a commemorative brochure.
The ITA will make a donation of $1,000.00 to the tennis program of the institution from which the award winner graduated.
