Virginia, Illinois
and Texas A&M continue to lead '08 Race
Fans continued to flock through the gates in
Charlottesville, Va., Urbana, Ill., and College
Station, Texas in March as Virginia, Illinois and
Texas A&M remained atop the leader boards in the ITA
Attendance Race.
On the men's side Virginia continues to lead in overall attendance
with 5,424 fans through March. Texas A&M surged to
second place overall thanks to 3,381 fans coming out
to matches last month. Texas A&M also registered the
highest single match attendance last month with 766
turning out when Oklahoma came to town on March 28.
Illinois maintained its lead in average attendance
with 560 spectators per match.
Texas A&M widened its lead in the women's race and leads in all
categories. The Aggie women's program has drawn
3,946 fans this season to George P. Mitchell Tennis
Center, averaging 564 per match. Baylor also jumped
into the race at No. 2 in the overall categories
thanks in part to their March 26 match against No. 1
Northwestern that drew 606 fans.
The A&M men and women also drew the highest single match totals
last month with 766 fans coming out for their March
28 doubleheader against Oklahoma and Nebraska,
respectively.
