Three Sagehens Selected to Compete at NCAA DIII W. Tennis Individual Championships

With the field now set for the Individual Championships for Singles and Doubles, three Sagehens know they have been selected among the top 32 singles players and top 16 doubles teams across the country. Pomona senior Siobhan Finicane will be playing in her fourth National Singles Championship Tournament, while both Pitzer freshman Jamie Solomon and Pomona freshman Kara Wang have qualified for singles and doubles for the first time.

Finicane, currently ranked #2 in the West Region in singles, won the NCAA Singles title in 2008, was a semifinalist in singles and doubles in 2007, and a doubles finalist in 2009. Finicane is 13-2 this season. Solomon and Wang are currently just behind Finicane at #3 (20-5) and #5 (19-4) in the West for singles, respectively, and they are ranked at #2 in the West for doubles.

The NCAA Individual Championships will take place May 28-30 at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, VA.

The Pomona-Pitzer Team has also been selected for the NCAA Team Championships. Pomona-Pitzer is seeded #1 as the #1 team out of the West Region, and we will host the preliminary rounds (Regionals) this weekend, at the Pomona-Pitzer Pauley Tennis Courts. The winning team will continue on to compete in the Elite Eight, May 25-27 at University of Mary Washington.
