Mark Hurd, Oracle Chief Executive Officer
Mark Hurd is the Chief Executive Officer of Oracle Corporation and a member of the Oracle board of directors. With 30 years of technology industry leadership and executive management experience behind him, Mark Hurd drives the corporate direction and strategy at Oracle, focusing on customers, leadership, and innovation. Mark Hurd was honored as The San Francisco Chronicle’s 2008 CEO of the Year and was one of Fortune’s Most Powerful People in 2007.
Mark Hurd is a graduate of Baylor University, but his enthusiasm for tennis extends beyond his collegiate career. He has supported multiple tennis initiatives at his alma mater at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, including philanthropic donations that helped construct the Hurd Tennis Building. His philanthropy also drove the creation of the Hurd Tennis Center at Baylor— a 12-court premier outdoor facility that hosted the NCAA Tennis Championships in 2015.
Mark Hurd’s passion for tennis and interest in assisting outstanding college students has been paramount in advancing Oracle’s support for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Oracle’s support of the ITA has resulted in the development of several ITA initiatives, including The Oracle/ITA Masters, The Oracle Collegiate Tennis Challenge, and the Oracle/ITA Arthur Ashe Jr./All-Star Outing. Under Hurd’s leadership, Oracle also created the Oracle US Tennis Awards, a $100,000 tennis grant for young professionals. The grant is awarded to one male and one female professional tennis player who has demonstrated an aptitude for success and has demonstrated extraordinary sportsmanship during their pro tour.
Mark Hurd continues to support the ITA and the tennis community as a whole. “Oracle is committed to helping grow the game and interest of tennis in America,” said Hurd. “We’re proud to continue our support of the ITA in competitive intercollegiate tennis.”
