What To Watch – April 22-24

Conference tournament time is here with the ACC, SEC, Pac-12, AAC, and others all having their tournaments this weekend.

Conference Tournaments
Cary, North Carolina, will be hosting the ACC Men’s and Women’s Tournament for the eighth consecutive year. On the men’s side the top four seeds are Virginia (22-3), Wake Forest (26-5), Florida State (18-7) and North Carolina (24-3). It shows you the amazing depth of the ACC when the No. 3 team in the country, North Carolina, is the No. 4 seed in its own conference tournament. On the women’s side the top four seeds are North Carolina (26-2), Miami (17-4), Georgia Tech 16-7), and Duke (18-5). Virginia’s men’s and women’s teams won the tournament last year so it’ll be interesting to see if somebody can pull off the double this year.

The SEC Men’s Tournament is in Columbia, South Carolina, while the Women’s Tournament is in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The top four seeds on the men’s side are Georgia (18-3), Florida (15-6), Texas A&M (25-8), and Mississippi State (15-7). The top four seeds on the women’s side are Florida (18-2), Vanderbilt (18-4), Georgia (18-3), and Auburn (21-6). The Texas A&M men and Vanderbilt women are the defending champions.

The Pac-12 Men’s Tournament is taking place in Ojai, California, with the regular season champion UCLA Bruins (20-2) the No. 1 seed. UCLA will face the No. 4 seed California (16-5) in one semifinal while the other semifinal will pit the No. 2 seed USC (15-5) and the No. 3 seed Stanford (14-9). Both semifinals as well the final will be broadcast live on the Pac-12 Network. USC is the defending champion after defeating Stanford in a 4-3 thriller last season.

There isn’t a Pac-12 Women’s Team Tournament but there is an individual and doubles tournament that is taking place in Ojai. Cal’s Maegan Manasse is the No. 1 seed in the singles draw while she and Denise Starr are the No. 1 seeds in the doubles draw.
