School’s out for summer, but not for PlaySight

PlaySight has been very busy this summer, bringing its cutting-edge SmartCourts and LiveCourts to more collegiate tennis programs across the country.

The sports media, analytics, and video technology company finished up the 2016 season riding a wave of momentum in the college tennis world. Five of the Top 10 teams on the women’s side of the Division I Oracle ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings trained and played their home matches on PlaySight courts, including the Oklahoma State Cowgirls, who credit PlaySight with helping them capture the Big 12 title.

Here’s Cowgirls head coach Chris Young on what PlaySight has meant to the Oklahoma State tennis program. “It has been an amazing tool for us to have PlaySight, and no coincidence that we won the Big 12 title using it this year.”

Let’s take a quick look at PlaySight’s newest SmartCourt and LiveCourt-enabled college tennis programs.

Tennessee is entering next season full of promise. The men’s team boasts the No. 4-ranked incoming class of recruits, and the women’s side has some new talent coming into the fold as well. From Tennessee men’s tennis head coach Sam Winterbotham: “Tennessee expects to be amongst the elite of collegiate tennis. [New players] Luca, Steven, and Scott will play an important part in achieving this, but our current roster has great players on it. We plan on those players to help our new recruits to adjust quickly, so we can become a great team.”

The women’s tennis team at Stanford is fresh off of an NCAA Championship in 2016, finishing the season atop the Oracle ITA national team rankings. The men’s squad finished the season just outside of Top 20 at No. 21. The Cardinal installed one High Performance SmartCourt (10 cameras, including baseline and service line views) at the Taube Family Tennis Center.

The Big Green boasted two Top 50 teams last year (the men at No. 43 and the women at No. 45), and both sides will have even higher expectations for this coming season. They will also now be playing and training with SmartCourt and LiveCourt technology – with the pending addition of one SmartCourt and 11 streaming LiveCourts – Big Green fans around the world will now have access to every single home match.
