MEN’S RANKINGS/WOMEN’S RANKINGS
SKILLMAN, NJ – The first Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis NAIA National Rankings of 2016 were announced on Monday by Oracle and the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, and much like the fall, Georgia Gwinnett dominates the top positions on the men’s side.
Kevin Konfederak retains the No. 1 rankings in singles, and along with teammate Jordan Cox, maintains the No. 1 spot in doubles. Cox holds steady at No. 2 in singles, with Matias Hatem giving the Grizzlies three players in the Top 10.
In doubles, Georgia Gwinnett’s team of Connor Clements and Hatem jumped from unranked to No. 3 in the current rankings. Three other unranked teams from the fall also found their way into the Top 10, as Xavier University of Louisiana’s Kevin Chaouat and Thomas Setodji are No. 6, while teammates Karan Salwan and Kyle Montrel are No. 8. McPherson’s Joan-Marc Fajula Rodriguez and Hector Carillo Perales check in at No. 10.
There are three new additions to the men’s singles Top 10, with Manuel Raga of Bethany moving from unranked to No. 6, Fajula Rodriguez of McPherson climbing from No. 17 to No. 7 and Setodji of Xavier University of Louisiana coming in at No. 8.
The women’s national rankings were announced on April 6, and Georgia Gwinnett's Valeria Podda is the top-ranked singles player, while in doubles, Kate Wilson and Lucia Solis of Indiana Wesleyan are the division's No. 1 pairing.
