SKILLMAN, NJ – Oracle and the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced the first women’s Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis national team rankings of 2016 for the Junior/Community College division on Thursday, with minimal changes to the Top 10.
The Top 3 three teams from the fall, ASA Miami, Tyler Junior College and Seminole State College, remain No.’s 1-3 in Thursday’s ranking. The ASA Miami women swept all nine NJCAA individual championships in 2015, becoming the first team to do so since 1991. In addition, they held the No. 1 ranking all of last season.
Seward moved up six positions to No. 4, while St. Petersburg continues to hold the No. 5 ranking. Broward jumped eight spots from No. 14 to No. 6, with the State College of Florida checking in at No. 7. ASA New York enters the rankings at No. 8, followed by Cowley at No. 9 and the New Mexico Military Institute at No. 10.
The men’s national team rankings were announced on Monday, March 21, and like the women, saw the Top 10 stay largely in tact.
The top five teams didn't budge from the previous rankings, with ASA Miami at No. 1, Seminole State College at No. 2, Tyler Junior College at No. 3, Seward at No. 4 and Mesa at No. 5. Laredo entered the Top 10 at No. 6, moving up eight positions from No. 14. Cowley and ABAC make up the No.'s 7-8 spots, with Jacksonville vaulting 12 spots from No. 21 to No. 9. Harford rounds out the Top 10, remaining in the No. 10 position.
