Oracle-ITA DI National Rankings Header-2017-01-04

MEN/WOMEN

TEMPE, Ariz. – Oracle and the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced the latest Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis Division I National Team Rankings on Wednesday, with the University of Virginia men and University of Florida women once again commanding the top spots in their respective Top 25.

Following a successful 2017 ITA Kick-Off Weekend, there was little change in either the men’s and women’s Top 10. On the men’s side, Northwestern moved ahead of Texas, up to No. 9, while the Longhorns slid back to No. 10. Georgia Tech (No. 24) and Ole Miss (No. 25) entered the Top 25 this week, while Arkansas and Duke fell out of the rankings.

On the women’s side, the Top 10 once again saw no movement. Texas Tech (No. 12), Michigan (No. 13) and Auburn (No. 14) all moved up one spot apiece, while Texas A&M saw a seven-position change from No. 22 to No. 15, thanks to its victory in the Kick-Off Weekend regional final at No. 17 Miami (then-No. 12).

Ole Miss entered the Top 25 at No. 19, buoyed by its victory in the Kick-Off Weekend regional at Virginia. The Rebels became the first No. 4 regional seed to advance to the Division I Women’s National Team Indoor Championship, which takes place Feb. 10-13 in New Haven, Connecticut, hosted by Yale University.

A reminder that 2017 saw a shift in the national team rankings, with the system converting to a Top 25 poll as selected by a panel of 14 coaches for both men and women that comprise the national rankings committees. When the rankings move to the computerized format in late-February, the Top 50 teams will be publicized.
