– There’s a new No. 1 team in the nation following the conclusion of the 2016 ITA Division I National Men’s Team Indoor Championship, as Oracle and the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced the updated Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings for Division I men on Wednesday.

North Carolina defeated then No. 1-ranked Virginia 4-2 in Monday’s #ITAIndoors final, capping off a 4-0 run through the tournament for the Tar Heels. The win catapulted North Carolina into the top spot in the national team rankings, with the Cavaliers sliding down one spot to No. 2.

The rest of the Top 10 saw some fluctuation, with UCLA and Wake Forest each moving up five spots to No. 4 and 5, respectively, while Texas Tech entered the Top 10 at No. 10 after being ranked No. 14 on
Feb. 3.

Tar Heels Move On Up To No. 1
North Carolina, ranked seventh in the Feb. 3 poll, had an impressive run through the #ITAIndoors tournament. The Tar Heels, seeded third in the 16-team event, defeated No. 14 Texas Tech 4-1, No. 6 Ohio State 4-2, No. 4 UCLA 4-2 and finished off the event with a 4-2 win over the host Cavaliers. In that championship final, North Carolina rallied back from a 2-0 deficit, earning singles wins at the No. 1, 2, 6 and 4 positions to secure the victory. #OracleITARankings Big Mover Of The Week
Off to its best start since 1990, Wisconsin remained unbeaten on the 2016 season following a 7-0 victory over DePaul on Feb. 13. The Badgers (6-0) moved up from No. 74 in the Feb. 3 rankings to a tie for No. 56 this week. The Badgers will take on No. 3 TCU at home this Friday at 7 p.m. CT.

National singles and doubles rankings for Division I men will return on February 24.
