TEMPE, Ariz. – Emory University’s men’s and women’s tennis teams remain atop their respective national team rankings, as Oracle and the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced the latest Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis Division III National Team Rankings on Thursday.
Fresh off its successful title defense at the 2017 ITA Division III National Men’s Team Indoor Championship, Emory is the new No. 1-ranked men’s team as Oracle and the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced the latest Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis Division III National Team Rankings on Thursday.
Like the men, the Emory women were victorious at the 2017 ITA Division III National Women’s Team Indoor Championship. The Eagles are set for a showdown and 2016 NCAA final rematch with No. 2 Williams on March 20. Emory defeated Williams 5-4 to claim the 2016 NCAA Division III National Championship.
Washington University in St. Louis and Carnegie Mellon cracked the women’s Top 10 this week, with the Bears moving up from No. 11 to No. 9, and the Tartans going from No. 12 to No. 10.
The men’s Top 10 also sees a couple of new teams enter the ranks, with University of Redlands going from No. 18 to No. 8, and Wesleyan (CT) moving up one spot from No. 11 to No. 10.
As mentioned, Emory continues to hold the No. 1 ranking, but there was some movement below them, specifically Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, as the Stags jumped over four teams to go from No. 6 to No. 2 in the rankings.
The next set of national team rankings will be released on March 30, 2017.
