SKILLMAN, NJ – Season high attendance figures were achieved by both the men and women in the month of March, as the 2016 ITA Attendance Race saw teams from the Southeastern Conference dominate the top of the standings.
The University of Georgia men and University of Florida women drew the most fans to its home matches last month. The Bulldogs saw 1,010 fans pack the stands for their 4-2 non-conference victory over then-No. 4 Ohio State on March 20. That attendance figure is the highest in the nation this season. Georgia also had the No. 2 and 3 highest-attended matches in March, drawing 658 fans for an SEC contest against Tennessee and 506 versus Alabama.
For the second straight month, the Gators led all women’s programs in attendance. The Ring Tennis Complex in Gainesville, Florida, had 607 spectators in attendance for an SEC showdown with defending NCAA Champion, Vanderbilt. The Gators won the match 4-2. The 607 figure is tops for all women’s matches in 2016.
In addition to honoring the teams that drew the most fans to a single match in February, March and April, the ITA will also recognize those teams that had more than 300 fans attend a match. Those matches are listed below in the men’s and women’s Wall of Fame below.
