SKILLMAN, N.J. - This is the point in the season when the Campbell/ITA Rankings switch from a poll to a computer point-per-match formula, which causes several changes throughout the rankings. The most notable change was the Florida women joining the Virginia men at No. 1, just one week after falling 4-2 to top-ranked Stanford.
The Gators can thank the strength of the ACC (that's right, the ACC not the SEC) for the swap with Stanford as UF has posted five top-12 victories, all over ACC opponents, including three wins over top-5 competition. Stanford meanwhile has picked up more top 20 wins than Florida with six but only has two wins over teams ranked in the top 12.
Meanwhile, on the men's side, top-ranked Virginia continues to tighten its grip at the top, picking up wins against No. 2 Tennessee, No. 3 Ohio State and No. 4 Illinois en route to capturing an unprecedented fourth straight ITA Men's National Team Indoor title. They have held the top spot now since the Campbell/ITA Preseason Rankings were released in the fall.
Follow the Leader: For the men, following Virginia is (in order): Tennessee, Ohio State, Illinois, Texas, UCLA, USC, Michigan, Duke and Stanford. On the women's side, Florida is followed by: Stanford, Duke, Michigan, North Carolina, California, Baylor, Virginia, Northwestern and Vanderbilt.
Conference Count: The number of men's and women's teams from each conference that appear in the Campbell/ITA Division I Top 25 Rankings are listed numerically. Men's Top 25: SEC - 6; Pac-10 - 5; Big Ten - 4; ACC and Big 12 - 3; Big East and WCC - 2. Women's Top 25: ACC - 7; Pac-10 and SEC - 5; Big 12 - 3; Big Ten - 2 and Big East, Colonial and WCC - 1.
Up A Set: A listing of all of the upsets from both men's and women's college tennis from the previous week. All results listed are from Monday, February 21st through Sunday, February 27th.
