ITA ANNOUNCES FIELDS FOR THE 2013 ITA DIVISION III
NATIONAL MEN’S AND WOMEN’S TEAM INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS
SKILLMAN, N.J. (Sept. 6) – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released today the eight-team fields for the 2013 ITA Division III National Men’s and Women’s Team Indoor Championships.
The 13th Annual ITA Division III National Men’s Team Indoor Championships will be held February 22-24, 2013 in St. Peter, Minn., at the Swanson Tennis Center on the campus of Gustavus Adolphus College. The Golden Gusties will be hosting for the tenth time.
Participating schools include: Cal Lutheran, Emory, Gustavus Adolphus, Johns Hopkins, Kenyon, NC Wesleyan, Trinity (Texas) and UC-Santa Cruz.
Emory is looking for its third consecutive title, as the Eagles defeated UC-Santa Cruz, 7-2, last year before moving on to capture the NCAA Division III title. Emory has won more ITA National Indoor Championships (5) than any school, followed by Gustavus Adolphus (4) and UC-Santa Cruz (3).
The 5th Annual ITA Division III National Women’s Team Indoor Championships will be held March 1-3, 2013 in Greencastle, Ind., at the Indoor Tennis & Track Center on the campus of DePauw University. The Tigers will be hosting for the third time.
The women’s field includes: Carnegie Mellon, Chicago, DePauw, Johns Hopkins, Skidmore, Trinity (Texas), UW-Whitewater and Washington & Lee.
Washington & Lee looks to defend its title after defeating Carnegie Mellon in a marathon match last year that lasted nearly six hours. Emory is the only school to win multiple titles (2010, 2011).
