ERIC BUTORAC STARTS 2012 SEASON ON HIGH NOTE
Former TLC camper and Gustavus All American Eric Butorac began the 2012 season with brilliant play. Eric and his new partner Bruno Soares from Brazil reached the semifinals of the Auckland, New Zealand tournament and the quarterfinals of the Australian Open.
The most satisfying win came in the Round of 16 at the Australian Open. Eric and Bruno convincingly defeated 8th seeded Jules Rojer and Alsam-Ul-Haq Qureshi 6-4, 6-2. Rojer left Eric in December when higher ranked Qureshi asked him to play.

Notice that Eric is proudly wearing a Gustavus t-shirt for the interview. Coach Tommy Valentini and 32 Gustavus students studying sport ethics in Australia provided enthusiastic support for Eric and Bruno’s first two matches in the Australian Open.
