ITA/USTA National Summer Championships Results - Day 2
 
BLOOMINGTON, IN (August 12) - The ITA/USTA National Summer Championships continued yesterday in Bloomington, IN, with the event capping off a great summer of tennis action in the 2013 ITA Summer Circuit, presented by the USTA.

Women's Main Draw Recap
Eight players remain in the women's main singles draw as play will resume on Monday in Bloomington.  Ronit Yurovsky (Michigan), the top seed, was upended in the third round by Mariaryeni Gutierrez in three sets, 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (10).  Gutierrez then defeated Nelle Youel (NIU) to move on the quarterfinals.  Kendal Woodard (Georgia Tech), the fifth overall seed, won two matches on Sunday to move on to play Monday.
 
Day 2 SC Champs newsRebecca Shine (Louisville) will begin play on Monday against Alex Chatt as top-16 seeds Emily Zabor (Alabama) and Annie 

Sullivan (Yale) will also matchup against each other in quarterfinal play.  Julia Fellerhoff (Louisville) won by 7-6, 7-5 margins in both of her matches on Sunday to move on to play the No. 2 overall seed Alex Cercone.
 
Men's Main Draw Recap
The top seed in the men's main singles draw is still alive as Chris Diaz (Ohio State) finds himself in the quarterfinals against Morgan Mays (Wake Forest).  Brian Page (Illinois) won a three-set match over Sam Bloom (Wake Forest) before walking over to the next round.  Sean Weber (NC State) will take on Page on Monday after winning two-consecutive three-set matches.
 
Page's college teammate Austin Powell (NC State), the fifth overall seed will also compete in the quarterfinals.  Drew Lied (Michigan State) awaits Powell on Monday.  Dimitrije Tasic (Indiana) cruised through two wins on Sunday to earn his spot in the quarters to take on the overall No. 2 seed Adam Lee (Wake Forest).  Lee overcame a first set loss in his fourth round match against Daniel Alameh (Pacific) to make it to the round of eight.
 
Doubles play also began on Sunday afternoon and quarterfinal action will pick up on Monday for both the men and women.

Since its inception in 1993, nearly 30,000 men and women have competed in the ITA Summer Circuit, presented by the USTA. Providing college and junior athletes (along with alumni) the opportunity to compete in organized events year round, the Circuit remains open to anyone as long as he/she is a current ITA member. There are nine regional circuits that span across the United States, which include thirty-five different tournaments. These open tournaments culminate with the ITA/USTA National Summer Championships at Indiana University, Bloomington, IN, on August 10-13. Everyone is eligible to enter the National Summer Championships.
