CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women’s tennis team will host the second annual CofC Dog Show benefiting Pet Helpers on Friday, Dec. 3, at the Stern Center Gardens on the CofC campus.
Registration will begin at 2 p.m. with a $5 donation per category followed by the first event at 2:30 p.m. Students and the general public are welcome to enter their dogs. Leashes are required.
“Our annual dog show is a great event,” said freshman right-hander Kelly Kambourelis, who is a member of the William Aiken Junior Fellows Society at The College. “Not only do we get to give back and help animals in the community, but we get to represent the College of Charleston aside from playing collegiate tennis. I have a giant soft spot for dogs, so it’s nice to know we are sponsoring a fun event for an organization that provides dogs and other pets with loving homes.”
Prizes will be awarded in each dog competition including Most CofC Spirit, Best Tricks and Most Obedient among other categories. The panel of celebrity judges will include Extreme Akim. The event will not only benefit a good cause, but offer a chance for dog owners and their pets to meet others in the community.
“The women’s tennis team has played a large role in putting on this year’s event,” Kambourelis said. “Our upperclassmen have put a lot of time and effort into the planning stages such as contacting sponsors, designing flyers, gathering prizes and much more. We hope to have a great turnout on Friday.”
All proceeds for the Dog Show will go to Pet Helpers, a local rescue and adoption shelter. For more information, please call (843) 795-1110 ext. 16 or log onto: www.PetHelpers.com.
