Virginia, Baylor is back atop the Campbell/ITA College Tennis Rankings

SKILLMAN, N.J. – For the sixth time in the last eight weeks, a new team appears at No. 1 on the women’s side in the Campbell/ITA College Tennis Rankings. In the ever-changing women’s team rankings, Baylor has nudged ahead of North Carolina to claim the No. 1 spot after a two-week hiatus. Meanwhile, the Virginia men continue to hold the top spot for the eighth-straight week, since capturing the ITA Men’s Team Indoor title.

Ranked No. 2 in last week’s rankings, the Bears climbed to the top spot with a tremendous 6-1 victory over sixth-ranked Notre Dame.
After dropping the doubles point, Baylor dominated singles play, taking all six points on their way to putting the match away.

The Lady Bears will continue their treacherous top 10 schedule by hosting fifth-ranked Northwestern on Friday. NU is on a bit of a slide as the head to Waco. They recently lost their third-straight match, which included a loss to third-ranked Michigan en route to snapping the Wildcats’ 81-match win streak against Big Ten opponents.

With their sights set on the current leader Virginia, the Aggie men closed the gap by leading in attendance during the month of March but still trail UVA by a considerable margin. The Aggie women, who last month had yet to host a home match are off and running, looking to capture their third consecutive ITA Attendance Race title. However, they will have to fight off a couple of schools from Florida, Georgia and Washington in what is sure to turn into an exciting race.
