BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – After five straight days of matches, Illini doubles duo Chelcie Abajian and Breanne Smutko came up just short Tuesday afternoon in the title match of the 2010 ITA/USTA National Collegiate Summer Circuit hosted by Indiana University, Aug. 7-11. The tandem captured four straight matches en route to the championship, three of which came against seeded opponents, but fell in heartbreaking fashion to Alabama's Taylor Lindsey and Alex Clay, 9-8 (6).

Abajian and Smutko also led the way in singles, as each advanced to the third round of play, while Rachael White and incoming freshman Misia Kedzierski each claimed first-round matches.

The singles and doubles champions from the event earn wild cards into the first national tournaments of the 2010-11 collegiate tennis season - the D'Novo Men's and Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships in early October.
