Campbell/ITA National Player of the Year, Irina Falconi, the No. 1 player in the nation last year for Georgia Tech, won the $10,000 event in Atlanta.

Jupiter, Florida's Falconi defeated current University of Florida sophomore Allie Will 6-1, 6-4 in the final.

The news followed that Falconi has turned pro.

"I spoke to her by phone while she was on her way to Lexington," blogged Colette Lewis at zootennis.com. "The 20-year-old from Florida said she had turned pro, feeling the time was right, and that her coach Bryan Shelton supported her decision."
