Bryans Reclaim No. 1 Ranking With Seventh Title Of 2010
Bryans have a 7-0 record in ATP finals this season
The Bryans improved to a perfect 7-0 record in finals this season as they clinched the victory in one hour and 11 minutes. After dropping serve for the first time at 5-1 in the second set, the Bryans served out the match at the second time of asking.
"We were lucky today. We played the best match of the year,” said Mike Bryan with a laugh. “We had a great week. It is one of our favorite weeks of the year. We will be back in 2012!"
The Bryans have now claimed three Rogers Cup titles, also winning in 2002 and ’06 in Toronto, taking their haul at ATP World Tour Masters 1000 titles to 16. They captured the clay-court crowns earlier this year in Rome and Madrid.
Two weeks ago at their hometown tournament in Los Angeles, the 32-year-old became the all-time team titles leaders, surpassing Todd Woodbridge and Mark Woodforde’s record mark of 61 titles.
Benneteau and Llodra had defeated the Bryans two years ago in the Las Vegas final, and were looking to win their third title together. They fell to an 18-4 season record as a team.
"Congratulations to the Bryans, they will be No. 1 in the individual doubles rankings again after this week and they deserve it as they are the best," said Benneteau. by ATP Staff
