Defending NCAA DII Champs Top Men's and Women's Spring Rankings

SKILLMAN, N.J. - Another season, same results for the Armstrong Atlantic State University men's and women's varsity tennis teams. The AASU teams are already 10 matches into the spring season and still remain No. 1 in the Division II Campbell/ITA College Tennis Rankings, right where the left off at the end of the 2009 campaign, which saw both squads hoist the NCAA Division II team title for the second year in a row.

Both teams are undefeated and for the first time in 2010, AASU swept the weekly tennis honors this week as Mikk Irdoja was named the Peach Belt Conference Men's Player of the Week and ITA All-Star and 2009 ITA Small College Super Bowl Singles Champion, Sona Novakova was chosen as the women's candidate.

Novakova and the Lady Pirates have a showdown with No. 2-ranked Lynn University in their next match on Friday, March 5. AASU has met Lynn in each of the last two seasons for the DII National Championship and the Knights were the only team to defeat the Lady Pirates last season, during the regular season.
