Still the One:
For the fourth consecutive week, the Northwestern women and Ohio State men remain No. 1 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Rankings. Both teams were also awarded the No. 1 seed in the ITA Division I National Team Indoor Championships this weekend. The Wildcats (3-0) have recorded victories over #28 Texas, #33 Tulsa and #53 New Mexico on the year. This season the Buckeyes (5-0) have picked up wins against # 21 Wake Forest, #22 North Carolina, #32 Virginia Tech, #41 Washington and #64 Stetson. Both Ohio State and Northwestern received all eight first-place votes from the ITA National Rankings Committees.

Rounding Out the Top 10: On the women's side, Northwestern is followed by (in order): California, UCLA, Baylor, Stanford, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Duke, Southern Cal and Florida. For the men, following Ohio State is: Texas, Georgia, UCLA, Virginia, USC, Florida, Tennessee, Mississippi and Baylor.

Conference Count: Men's Top 25: SEC – 6; ACC – 5; Big 12 and Pac-10 - 4; Big Ten - 3; Big East, Conference USA and WCC - 1. The SEC also had the most teams ranked in the top 10 with four (Georgia, Florida, Tennessee and Mississippi). Women's Top 25: SEC - 7; ACC and Pac-10 – 5; Big 12 and Big Ten – 2; Big East, Colonial, Mountain West and WAC – 1. While the SEC had more teams in the top 25 the Pac-10 had four of five teams ranked in the top 10 (California, UCLA, Stanford and USC).

On the Move: On the women's side, the top six teams all remained the same with Florida dropping from No. 7 to No. 10 after losing to then No. 17 North Carolina, which rose six spots to No. 11. After jumping into the Top 25 last week, Auburn fell back down to No. 27 after losing to Texas A&M, which replaced the Tigers at No. 25. There was little change in the men's rankings as the top 13 spots all remained the same with only Michigan making any movement, dropping four notches to No. 18 after a loss to then No. 43 North Carolina State.

Set to Go to Chicago: The matchups have been set for the 16 teams competing in the 2009 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Men's Team Indoor Championships. The University of Illinois Men’s Tennis Team will host the 35th annual Championships at Midtown Tennis Club, February 13 – 16. The first-round matchups are listed as follows.

- No. 1 Ohio State vs. No. 16 Pepperdine
- No. 2 Texas vs. No. 15 Michigan
- No. 3 Georgia vs. No. 14 Florida State
- No. 4 UCLA vs. No. 13 Illinois
- No. 5 Virginia vs. No. 12 Tulsa
- No. 6 Southern Cal vs. No. 9 Mississippi
- No. 7 Florida vs. No. 11 Stanford
- No. 8 Tennessee vs. No. 10 Baylor

The Spin on Wisconsin: The matchups have been set for the 16 teams competing in the 2009 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Women's Team Indoor Championships. The University of Wisconsin women's tennis team will host the tournament for the 22nd consecutive year at the A.C. Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison, Wis., February 13 – 16. The top eight teams received seeds with the first-round matchups listed as follows.

- No. 1 Northwestern vs. Miami (FL)
- No. 2 California vs. Clemson
- No. 3 UCLA vs. Florida
- No. 4 Baylor vs. North Carolina
- No. 5 Stanford vs. Notre Dame
- No. 6 Georgia vs. Southern Cal
- No. 7 Georgia Tech vs. Fresno State
- No. 8 Duke vs. Wisconsin


Next ITA Rankings: The next weekly team rankings will be released on Thursday, Feb. 19. Singles and doubles rankings are published every other week starting Feb. 19. These rankings reflect results through Sunday, Feb. 8. The rankings are administered by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), the governing body of collegiate tennis.
