The Sony Ericsson WTA Tour announced that Larry Scott will step down as the Tour’s Chairman and CEO to become Commissioner of the NCAA’s (National Collegiate Athletic Association) PAC-10 Conference, effective July 1, 2009. Scott will work with the Tour Board on the selection process for the next Chairman and CEO.

Larry’s contributions to the world of tennis can be traced back to his collegiate career where he was captain for the Harvard tennis team, earning ITA All-American honors in 1985 before graduating in 1986. He turned pro that year and would go on to play three seasons on the ATP circuit, achieving a ranking as high as No. 210 in singles and No. 69 in doubles.
