COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Former Texas A&M men’s tennis standout Lester Cook (Sherman Oaks, Calif.) captured his 11th career USTA Pro Circuit title by teaming up with former Virginia All-American Treat Huey to win the doubles main draw at the Relyaid $15K Men’s Tennis Tournament held over the weekend in Sacramento, Calif.
Cook, a three-time All-American for the Aggies from 2002-04, leads the USTA Pro Tour contingent as the top-ranked and top-seeded singles player at this week’s Balbutin’s Chico Pharmacy Tennis Classic in Chico, Calif. He is currently ranked No. 342 in the world in singles and No. 718 in the world in doubles.
Cook and Huey defeated the top-seeded and No. 383-ranked Australian doubles team of Andrew Coelho and Adam Feeney, 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (2), in the finals of the Relyaid tournament in Sacramento. They are seeded No. 2 in the doubles draw in Chico. Earlier this year, Cook won the USTA singles title in McAllen, Texas. He also reached the quarterfinals in Baton Rouge, La., and Yuba City, Calif., along with a semifinal appearance in Carson, Calif.
