Armstrong Atlantic, Barry claim top spots in Division II Campbell/ITA College Tennis Rankings

Top spots: Armstrong Atlantic State held on to the top spot in the Division II women’s team rankings while Barry moved up one spot, swapping places with the former No. 1 Armstrong Atlantic men. The Lady Pirates entered the 2009 spring season with the No. 1 ranking after going 32-1 last season and defeating Lynn, 5-2, for the school's fourth NCAA DII National Championship. The Bucs of Barry have put together a 9-0 record, outscoring their opponents 77-4 in their road back to the Division II National Championship match, where they look to avenge last year’s loss to Armstrong Atlantic State. Barry was able to jump Armstrong Atlantic State with Georgia College’s upset victory over the Pirates, ending their 38-match win streak and handing AASU its first regular season Peach Belt Conference loss since 2005.
