ASA College Holds Top Spots in ITA Junior/Community Colleges National Team Rankings

SKILLMAN, NJ (March 19) - The ASA College men and women held strong at the top of the ITA Junior/Community Colleges National Team Rankings in the first edition of the 2015 spring season.

 

Tyler Junior College comes in at No. 2 in both the men's and women's rankings, and both Apache squads are set for blockbuster battles tomorrow with the top-ranked Avengers. The Apache men took Laredo's No. 2 ranking by registering a 9-0 win over the Palominos on March 7.

 

Also on the men's side, Seward climbed three spots to No. 3 after a 4-0 start in 2015. The biggest riser was Vincennes, who jumped nine spots to No. 10. The Trailblazers rebounded from an 0-3 start with four straight wins on their spring break trip to Orlando, FL.

 

On the women's side, North Central Texas began its 2015 campaign with five straight ranked wins, including Top 10 victories over Cowley and Collin College. The 10-2 Lions claimed the No. 4 spot, a nine-spot ascent from the fall. Florida State College of Jacksonville is also on the rise, surging six spots up to No. 6 with a pair of wins against No. 11 St. Petersburg and a recent 6-3 triumph against No. 10 Broward.

Double-Dip: Five schools have both their men's and women's programs ranked inside the Top 10.

Top 25 Newcomers: Six new schools moved into the Top 25. On the women's side, Mesa (No. 10), New Mexico Military Institute (No. 12), Jones County (No. 19) and Mississippi Gulf Coast (No. 23) joined the rankings. Jones County also entered the men's rankings at No. 17, and Faulkner State (No. 20) was the only other men's team to crack the Top 25.
