SKILLMAN, NJ (Feb. 20) - Oklahoma's Alex Ghilea clinched the final two wins for the Sooners at fifth singles to give Oklahoma its first national title and earn the Most Outstanding Player honor at the 2015 ITA National Men's Team Indoor Championship, hosted by the University of Illinois at Midtown Athletic Club in Chicago, IL.

Alex Ghilea clinched the championship for the Sooners

Ghilea, currently ranked No. 63 in the ITA Division I National Singles Rankings, went 4-0 at fifth singles and 2-2 at third doubles during the week. In the championship match, he and partner Florin Bragusi battled back from 5-2 down to win at No. 3 doubles and move the Sooners back into contention for the doubles point they would eventually win. In the semifinal, Ghilea ripped off 11 straight games to defeat Baylor's Mate Zsiga and capture a 4-1 win for Oklahoma.

Teammate Dane Webb did not lose in Chicago, going 3-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles, to earn an ITA All-Tournament Team selection at No. 3 singles. Webb was the first player off the singles court for the Sooners in three of their matches and dispatched back-to-back Top 30 opponents in the final two matches, registering a 6-0 set in each match. Oklahoma's Axel Alvarez was the third Sooner named to the ITA All-Tournament Team for his performance at No. 2 singles.

Only USC's Eric Johnson was named to the ITA All-Tournament Team in both singles in doubles. The senior did not lose a set at Midtown Athletic Club, going 4-0 at 4th singles and 3-0 at 2nd doubles. USC garnered four selections in all, the most of any team.

Georgia's No.1 pair and Baylor's third doubles duo were also selected to the ITA All-Tournament Team. The Bulldog tandem of Ben Wagland and Austin Smith recorded wins over the No. 1, 11 and 12 doubles pairings in the country.
